WebNov 17, 2014 · Once the pin is pulled, slide the spring off the shaft. At this point you can either 1) snip a couple coils off the spring or 2) go to Ace hardware and get their #144 spring and use it instead of the factory spring. I think there is also a Fastenal spring that will work, but not sure of the number. Replacing the whole spring is best.
