Headaches may occur on one or both sides of the head, be isolated to a certain location, radiate across the head from one point, or have a viselike quality. A headache may appear as a sharp pain, a throbbing sensation or a dull ache. WebbThe pain is on both sides but not at the same time. That sounds very much like the typical pain referral pattern for the trapezius muscles of your shoulders. This pain may be exacerbated by leaning forward, which loads the traps with the weight of your head, and may trigger very sharp “ice pick” pains in the temple region.
